The Jones Bassoon reed is one of the finest commercial bassoon reeds available. Each piece of cane is selected for exact diameter and wall thickness. Following a number of mechanized steps, the reeds are assembled by hand and the string is coated with the strongest lacquer available. Only the most select French cane is used in the Jones Artist Bassoon Reeds. Using unique diamond cutting equipment, exacting gouge can be obtained. The profile is produced using advanced robotics, thus allowing the tip to receive extra refinement. Each reed is tested and adjusted by our "Artist in Resident," a professional Bassoonist. The Jones Euro Oboe Reed is made using a short scrape (10mm). A wire is added so that the musician can adjust the tip opening to their satisfaction. Only the finest French cane is selected. Then the cane is processed by skilled craftsmen using the world?s most advanced reed machinery. Each reed is individually tested and adjusted by hand. Only the most select French cane is used in the Jones Artist Oboe reeds. The cane is tied on to a 47mm nickel silver tube and the tip receives extra refinement, while the heart and back are balanced with the tip after numerous tests. The ?crow? of each reed is adjusted to an exact pitch, and the reed is played throughout the range on a professional Loree Oboe. Available strengths; Medium Soft, Medium, Medium Hard
